A Brief Guide to the Soft Launch

This is a very brief guide for you to maximise your experience during the 2nd limited beta. Contents here should only be used for the Soft Launch, which starts on 23rd February 2023.

Basic rules

Character Roles

Front-line Characters (Guardian and Hoplite) – Characters who should be placed at the front line and deal damages within close distance.

Damage Dealers (Caster, Assassin, and Ranger) – These characters could attack enemies from a distance, and should be placed just behind front-end.

Supporters (Adiutrix) – These characters can heal allies, provide buffs to allies, or inflict debuffs on enemies. You should place them on the back.

Skills

Each character has at most four skills that can be used – one Ultimate, one Active, one Passive and one Basic Attack. You can only control Ultimate and Passive during combat.

Ultimate skills can only be triggered for use when there is enough ultimate energy for this character. They are located on the left side of the card panel. When a character has been deactivated, skills of the corresponding character will be disabled but will not disappear.

Active skills need you to have sufficient MP to activate. MP restore automatically with time. They are located on the right side of the card panel and is larger compared to Ultimate Skills. You can use any of the cards available to use, and new random cards will be added to this panel when there are less than 4 cards in the tray. When a character has been deactivated, cards of the corresponding character will be removed from the tray.

There are 2 ways to use a skill:

  1. Drag a card to use a skill
While you are dragging a card, time will slow down (so called “bullet time”). Take advantage of this mechanism to find the right timing to use a skill.
  2. Double tap a card to use a skill
You can double-tap a card at the right time to use a skill (on a target of your choice).

However, there are a few points to note for you to use active skills wisely:

  1. There are some skills that can boost your ultimate power, so use them when you need it.
  2. Although you may choose any card you’d like to use, you should prevent stocking any card more than two in your tray, as it will greatly limit your actions when you need them.
  3. Plan your MP wisely. You may need them when you do not have them.

Also, there are some tips for using all your operatable skills:

  • Although it is quicker for you to double tap to release skills as the game AI feel fit, it is always better for you to align the direction of your skill to include as many enemies as possible. Carefully align the range can even allow you to target one or two more targets that seems to be out of range.
  • Some skills work better together. You can explore such combinations (we are working on them…)
  • Always, always have a skill that can perform interrupt ready at hand when you have an enemy on the other side that have disruptive skills.

Basic Strategies

  • Charge Power:
Some enemies will charge power before they use a powerful skill, but the skill is only available when the power is fully charged. You can stop an enemy from using their power-charging skills if you use an Interruptive skill on them while they are charging power.
Note: Only an Interruptive skill can stop an enemy from charging power.
  • Chant:
Some enemies will start chanting when they use a powerful skill. While chanting, the skill is always active. You can use an Interruptive skill or a Crowd-Control skill to stop an enemy from chanting and cancel their skill effect.
Note: Both an Interruptive skill and a Crowd-Control skill can stop a Chanting skill.
  • Exhaust:
Some Elites or Bosses have an Exhaust Bar. All kinds of attacks from allies will add to that Exhaust Bar. When the bar is filled, that enemy becomes Exhausted.
Exhausted enemies cannot attack, and shall take more damage (any incoming hit will be a critical hit).

Advanced Combat

Configure your line-up

Both enemies and allies have elements. There are 5 different elements in this game:

Elements have their relations, as follows:

Why this matters?

  1. Characters deal more damage to the enemies they counter in elements.
  2. Different characters of the same element can trigger synergies (Encroaching Cold, Wind Breath, Dark Mark, Corrosion, etc.) with their skills. That’s why deploying 4 characters of the same attribute is a move that will generate the most power.

Battlefield Strategies

Deploy Characters

Some enemies will start a fight with powerful skills. When you are deploying characters, you’ll see the effective range of those skills. Make sure to dodge them (or stop them with a clever formation), so that you won’t be off to a bad start.

On this screen, you may deploy your team members at the best places. Please keep an eye on the capabilities values on the right – you should aim to have your score above that of the enemy, or you will most likely fall into a hard fight!

Please note: do enter the formation screen before starting the battle, as this screen will prompt any location that would be subject to large damage attacks from the enemies.

While deploying characters, you’ll notice that some grids provide additional buffs. If you deploy your character in such a grid, you’ll have the upper hand when the fight begins.

At the Beginning of Battles

Use dislocating skills to knock back enemies or put them together to focus the fight in a small area.

  1. Your skills can hit more enemies, which means your skills are now more efficient.
  2. Allow your allies to move into an area that provides buffs, or drive back the enemies away from such an area.
  3. Drive enemies into an area that inflicts debuffs, or help your allies escape such an area.

You may see special enemies in some stages. These enemies can either explode, provide buffs, or inflict debuffs. If you can kill these enemies at first or save them to the last, which will make the battle easier.

There are sometimes special objects in a stage. These objects will make the fight more unpredictable. Be cautious when you see them.

  • A Pile of Gold: Attacking the target gives you Gold at the end of the combat, but enemies will appear if A Pile of Gold loses all its HP. It is a risky move to attack it, even by accident.
  • Lava: Lava will deal damage-over-time to all enemies within range and slow them down.
